What a UAE tax invoice usually shows

In general a UAE tax invoice displays the words Tax Invoice, the supplier's name, address and Tax Registration Number (TRN), the customer's details, a unique serial number, the date of issue, a description of the goods or services, the quantity, unit price and any discount, the tax rate and tax amount in AED, and the total.

This generator switches the title to TAX INVOICE as soon as a tax rate above zero is set, and gives you a registration box in step 2 for your TRN.

UAE VAT rate

The standard VAT rate in the UAE is 5%, and it is preset here with the currency set to AED. Some supplies are zero-rated or exempt, so set the rate to 0 where that applies to you.

If you invoice in another currency, the VAT amount usually also has to be shown in AED, so check the current rules or ask your accountant.

Discounts and withholding tax

Discounts are applied before VAT, and VAT is calculated on the discounted amount. The UAE does not generally apply withholding tax to domestic payments, so the WHT rate starts at 0. If a client does deduct something at source, enter the rate and choose what it applies to.

Add your logo and brand colour in step 4 to make the invoice look like yours.

Frequently asked questions

Is the VAT rate 5%?

The standard UAE VAT rate is 5% and it is preset on this page. Change the rate to 0 for zero-rated supplies.

Do I need a TRN on the invoice?

A VAT-registered business normally shows its TRN on tax invoices. Add it in the tax registration box in step 2.

Can I invoice in USD or another currency?

Yes. Change the currency in step 1. If you do, the VAT amount may still need to be shown in AED, so confirm the current rules.

Rates and rules change and depend on your business, so confirm the correct tax treatment with your accountant or tax authority. This tool is a calculator and layout helper, not tax advice.
