How to create a tax invoice online
An invoice is the document that asks a client to pay for goods or services. A tax invoice also shows the sales tax, GST or VAT you charged, and often your tax registration number. This free invoice generator does the maths for you and keeps the layout clean enough to send to any client.
Start by choosing a country preset. It fills the usual currency and tax rate, and you can overwrite both. Add your business and client details, list each item with quantity and rate, then set a discount if you give one. The preview on the right updates as you type. When you are happy, press Print or save as PDF and pick Save as PDF in the print window.
How the totals are calculated
| Line | Formula |
|---|---|
| Subtotal | Sum of quantity × rate for every item |
| Discount | Subtotal × discount % |
| Taxable amount | Subtotal − discount |
| GST / VAT | Taxable amount × tax rate |
| Total | Taxable amount + GST / VAT |
| WHT | WHT rate applied to the base you choose |
| Net payable | Total − WHT |
What is the difference between GST, VAT and WHT?
GST (goods and services tax) and VAT (value added tax) are indirect taxes added to the price of what you sell. The business collects them from the customer and passes them to the tax authority. WHT (withholding tax) works the other way: the customer keeps back a percentage of the payment and deposits it with the tax authority on your behalf, so you receive less cash than the invoice total. That is why this tool shows both the total and the net payable amount.
The WHT base differs between countries and between types of supply. Some rules apply it to the taxable value, some to the full amount with tax, and some only to the tax portion. Use the "WHT applies on" option to match the rule that applies to you.
What to include on a valid invoice
Include a unique invoice number, the issue and due dates, your name, address and tax registration number, your client's name and address, a clear description of each item, quantities, unit prices, the tax rate and amount, and the total. Add your bank details and payment terms in the notes so the client knows how to pay.
Frequently asked questions
Is this invoice generator free?
Yes. It is completely free, needs no signup, and all calculations happen in your browser.
How is withholding tax (WHT) calculated on the invoice?
You enter the WHT rate and choose what it applies to: the taxable amount, the total including tax, or the tax amount only. The WHT is deducted from the total to show the net amount payable.

How do I save my invoice as a PDF?
Click Print or save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF as the destination in your browser's print dialog.
Is my invoice data stored anywhere?
No. Nothing is uploaded. Your data stays in your browser and disappears when you close the page.
